Art for Mental Health Research - Exhibition and Auction

This annual event was held on World Mental health Day (10th of October) at Obscura Gallery in St Kilda East.

There was a wide variety of artwork this year, with over 100 pieces donated by local artists from all over Australia - the furthest being sent from NSW! The gallery looked amazing with them all on display.

Many people attended the event and enjoyed some bubbles and canapés while perusing the artwork. The atmosphere was enhanced with the background music played by Jerome Maller, Rob Barnett and Paul Junor. We were delighted to have Carlo Grossi as our MC who engaged the crowd and encouraged them to bid.

The highlight of the evening was a very moving speech from a woman who told her story of what it has been like living with a mental illness. By sharing her experiences, she was able to create a better understanding of the struggles that face people with mental illness, which emphasised the need for new and improved treatments that really work.

We thank everyone who supported Art for Mental Health Research. Our aim of raising funds, awareness and understanding of mental illnesses was achieved and we look forward to a bigger and better event next year!
